Sources reported on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, that the security forces affiliated with the “Interim Authority” (Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham) arrested the young man Jodi Issa, a student from the city of Hasakah, born in 1998, at one of their checkpoints while he was returning home from the capital, Damascus.
This incident comes amid an escalation of arbitrary arrests targeting Kurdish youth in areas under the control of the Interim Authority, most of which are carried out without judicial warrants or clear charges against the detainees. Local activists have expressed concern, stressing that these practices fall within a broader policy of repression and arbitrary detention against civilians in the region.
