In the Al-Bukamal area of Deir ez-Zor countryside, armed men detained an Iraqi traveler and confiscated his vehicle on October 30, 2025, following the issuance of a death sentence against a Syrian youth in Iraq. The incident led to the closure of the Al-Bukamal–Al-Qaim border crossing.
The video shows a person assaulting one of the Iraqi travelers inside Syrian territory as a form of protest against the mentioned ruling. In response to the events, the Internal Security Directorate affiliated with the Interim Authority hosted the Iraqi citizen who was assaulted, noting that the incident was immediately addressed through the intervention of the internal security forces in the area, after the perpetrator was arrested.
