Release of citizen Ammar Mohammad Al-Fashtaki in the Daraa countryside after hours of abduction and a ransom demand

The citizen Ammar Mohammad Al-Fashtaki, a resident of the city of Izraa and the owner of a wedding hall in the city, was released hours after his abduction, following the abducting party’s demand that his family pay a financial ransom in exchange for his release.

On 14 December 2025, the abduction incident took place in the city of Izraa in the northern Daraa countryside in southern Syria. The victim’s vehicle was later found near Al-Anwar fuel station on the Damascus–Daraa highway.

An unknown party carried out the abduction of the victim and demanded that his family pay a ransom of 100,000 US dollars in return for his release. Hours after the abduction, Ammar Mohammad Al-Fashtaki was released, with no information available regarding the identity of the abducting party or the circumstances of the release.

This incident comes amid an increase in cases of abduction and ransom demands in a number of Syrian regions, particularly in areas under the control of the interim authority (Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham), where security chaos and lawlessness prevail, threatening the safety of civilians and affecting social and economic stability.
