On the evening of October 28, 2025, Dr. Hamza Shaheen — a member of the Druze community and a former member of the Syrian Parliament — was abducted in front of his clinic near his home in the village of Deir Ali, in southern Rural Damascus.
The kidnapping was carried out by four masked gunmen who took the victim to an unknown location.
This incident comes amid a broader context of recurring kidnappings and abuses targeting minorities in various parts of Syria following Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham’s rise to power in the country.
