Abduction of the Young Man Ali Talal al-Hassan in Damascus

The young man Ali Talal al-Hassan, originally from the city of al-Dreikish in the Tartous Governorate, was abducted on 12 December 2025 in the Kafr Sousa area of the Syrian capital, Damascus.

According to available information, the young man was abducted from in front of the Sham City Center in Kafr Sousa. Surveillance camera footage, according to sources close to the victim, showed four individuals approaching him and taking him with them to an unknown location. The identity of the party that carried out the abduction remains unknown at the time of preparing this documentation.

Ali Talal al-Hassan belongs to the Alawite sect and resides in the capital, Damascus. No official information is available regarding his fate or place of detention, and no security or official authority has issued any clarification regarding the incident or its legal grounds.

This incident comes within a broader context of cases of arrest and arbitrary detention witnessed in various parts of Syria in recent times, as many families have reported the continued disappearance of their children without receiving any official information about their places of detention or the legal bases for their arrest.

The incident also falls within a general climate characterized by an escalation in incidents of targeting and violence against members of religious, sectarian, and ethnic minorities, alongside the growing spread of hate speech against multiple components of Syrian society, raising increasing human rights concerns regarding the safety of civilians and the guarantee of their protection.
