An armed attack on a café in the village of Umm Hartin in the Homs countryside leaves four dead

On the evening of November 15, 2025, an armed attack took place in the village of Umm Hartin, which belongs to the Talkalakh district in the western countryside of Homs in central Syria, targeting a café inside the village. The attack resulted in the killing of four people: Ali Huweiri, Kamal Alwan, Saleh Abu Ghazal, known as the mukhtar of the village of Wadi al-Moula, and Ali Badran, and the serious injury of another person. Three of the victims belong to the Alawite sect, while the fourth, the mukhtar, belongs to the Sunni sect.

The attack occurred when gunmen opened fire inside the café, in an incident that falls within the context of escalating security tensions in the area, which has witnessed a series of assaults targeting minorities after “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” came to power in Syria.
