The village of Hurat Ammurin, with its Alawite majority, in the countryside of Hama in western Syria, witnessed an attempt to kidnap the young woman Rawan Asaad from the Alawite sect on September 25. This occurred after relatives of a General Security (Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham) personnel member from the village of Al-Asharana stormed the village, demanding the release of their relative who had been kidnapped by an unknown armed group.
The village had been subjected to an armed attack the previous day, which resulted in the death of Ibrahim Al-Rukni.
Rawan Asaad had appeared in a video stating that she had been raped earlier by three individuals from Al-Asharana, without the authorities taking any measures to hold the perpetrators accountable.
