A member of the health sector in the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, which have a Kurdish majority in the city of Aleppo in northern Syria, confirmed that the health sector in the two neighborhoods is suffering from a severe shortage of medicines and medical supplies as a result of the siege imposed on them. He explained that the ongoing indiscriminate shelling significantly hinders the provision of necessary medical services to the wounded and injured.
The Kurdish neighborhoods in the city of Aleppo, particularly the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, have been subjected to intense shelling carried out by the forces of the Interim Authority since Tuesday, 6 January 2026. The pace of shelling escalated on the morning of today, Thursday, 8 January 2026, coinciding with the Interim Authority forces publishing maps showing residential locations in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood that were identified as targets for shelling, under the pretext that shelling operations are launched from them against the neighborhoods of the city of Aleppo and its residents by the “Syrian Democratic Forces.”
