Family of producer Mohammed Qaband appeals to the interim authorities in Syria to uncover the circumstances surrounding his abduction

On October 24, 2025, Ayyham Qaband, the son of Syrian producer Mohammed Qaband, issued a statement calling on the interim authorities in Syria (Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham) to reveal the circumstances of his father’s abduction, which occurred more than a month ago, to secure his release, and to bring those responsible to justice.

Armed men of unknown identity kidnapped the drama producer and businessman Mohammed Qaband on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, in front of the headquarters of Qabando Production and Artistic Distribution Company on the Bajaa Road near Sahara Complex in the Qudsaya suburb of Damascus Countryside, after posing as members of the “General Security” and taking him to an unknown destination.

At the time, his son Ayyham Qaband announced in a post on his page that his father “was kidnapped at 6:15 p.m. in front of the company headquarters by two cars carrying unidentified individuals impersonating General Security officers.”

Qaband, who served as a Member of Parliament between 2016 and 2020, is known for his pro-regime (Ba’ath Party) positions.
