Contact was lost with the young man Basel Nasr Saqour, 36 years old, on the morning of Friday, December 12, 2025, while he was working on his land in the village of Jabal al-Nouba, Salnfeh subdistrict, in the northern countryside of Latakia. This incident comes within a series of cases of lost contact and unannounced disappearances recorded in Latakia governorate and other areas on the Syrian coast, without any official clarifications. Among these cases is the loss of contact with the young man Mohammad Samir Ajeeb since the morning of Thursday, December 11, 2025, while he was heading from his village of Fadra, belonging to the Behloulia subdistrict, toward the city of Latakia.
Other disappearance cases have also been recorded, including the loss of the young man Jaafar Mohammad Mousa, 25 years old, since December 7, 2025, after leaving his home in the village of Ain Shaqaq in the Jableh countryside to go to his workplace. In addition, the young man Ali Talal Al-Hassan was kidnapped on December 12, 2025, in the Kafr Sousa area of the capital, Damascus, where surveillance camera recordings showed four individuals approaching him and taking him to an unknown location. All of these victims belong to the Alawite sect, and the parties responsible for these incidents are unknown, with no official statements issued regarding their fates.
These incidents record growing human rights concerns regarding the safety of civilians, in light of the ongoing cases of disappearance and lack of official information, accompanied by an escalation in targeting individuals belonging to religious and sectarian minorities. The urgent need for effective guarantees to protect civilians and uncover the fate of the missing in various areas of Syria is highlighted.
