Contact has been lost with the young woman Zainab Ali Al-Saddam since the morning of 14 March 2026 from the village of Al-Ghor Al-Gharbiya in the western countryside of Homs Governorate, western Syria. She reportedly disappeared while heading to her grandfather’s house within the same village, in an incident that has raised widespread concern about her safety, particularly in light of the repeated kidnapping incidents targeting civilians in the area.
According to available information, Zainab Ali Al-Saddam originates from the village of Al-Ghor Al-Gharbiya, a village inhabited predominantly by members of the Shiite community. Local sources reported that contact with her was lost while she was on her way to her grandfather’s house inside the village.
This incident comes only days after the abduction of Wissam Aziz Mansour, a 35-year-old Syrian woman from the Alawite community and a mother of three children.
According to available information, Wissam Aziz Mansour is originally from Homs Governorate, and she is married and resides in the village of Harf Al-Msaytira in the countryside of Latakia Governorate.
These incidents occur amid growing concerns over the targeting of civilians—particularly women belonging to religious or sectarian minorities—through kidnapping and enforced disappearance, which constitute a direct threat to the right to liberty and personal security.
These cases underscore the urgent need for immediate action by the relevant authorities to determine the fate of the victims, ensure their safety, and hold those responsible for these violations accountable, in order to guarantee the protection of civilians and prevent the recurrence of such crimes.
