The killing of two Alawite youths in Homs by stoning

The bodies of the two young men Muhammad Saleh al-Ali (24 years old) and Wissam Dahir al-Ali (23 years old) were found in Al-Walid Hospital in the Al-Waer neighborhood of the city of Homs in central Syria on November 21, 2025, after contact with them was lost earlier that morning while they were on their way to their job removing rubble. The two young men, who were cousins, were from the village of Abu Hakfa in the eastern countryside of Homs and belonged to the Alawite sect.

They disappeared near the Electricity Emergency Center in the Al-Zahraa neighborhood, where communication with them was cut off, while activists reported that the two young men were killed by stoning, in an incident that falls within a series of assaults targeting members of the Alawite sect who work in strenuous jobs to secure the livelihood of their families under extremely difficult conditions amid ongoing daily kidnappings and killings targeting members of the Alawite sect in Syria following Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’s assumption of power in the country.
