A video recording documents shocking scenes showing Kurdish fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), including female fighters, being subjected to slaughter and summary field executions by elements identified as the so-called “Syrian Arab Army” (the interim authority), during the military campaign conducted by the interim authority’s forces against areas in northeastern Syria.
According to the footage, which was published on accounts affiliated with the perpetrators of the violation on 19 January 2026, the video captures direct scenes of physical liquidation and extrajudicial killings. These acts are accompanied by inciting statements uttered by the individual filming the footage, including explicit acknowledgments of the criminal acts and degrading hate speech directed at the victims, reflecting a blatant disregard for human dignity and for binding international legal obligations.
According to local sources and testimonies from field activists, this crime occurred within the context of a large-scale military campaign targeting predominantly Kurdish areas. The campaign has reportedly resulted in the killing of thousands of Kurdish civilians and fighters, in addition to documented cases of arbitrary arrest and other grave violations, amid an almost complete media blackout and the absence of independent and effective mechanisms for investigation and accountability.
