A young man killed and three others injured in an armed attack in the city of Suwayda, and security forces arrest the main suspect

The young man Nours Noufal Nasser (25 years old) was killed and three others were injured on the evening of Wednesday, December 10, 2025, as a result of an armed attack carried out by unknown assailants near the Omran Roundabout in the city of Suwayda in southern Syria. The attack occurred when the gunmen opened fire from inside a car passing through the area.

According to local sources, Nours Nasser arrived at the hospital already deceased due to a gunshot wound to the neck. The injured were identified as Qais Rashid, Hazem Osama Abu Saeed, and Yazan Khudair.

The Internal Security Forces in Suwayda Province announced the arrest of the main suspect in the shooting incident that claimed the life of the young man Nours Noufal Nasser. The arrest was carried out based on directives from Judge Shadi Murshid, Director of the Internal Security Forces and the Criminal Security Branch in the province, with support from the Special Tasks Unit and National Guard forces.

The security agency explained that the detainee is Nael Imad Abu Hassan, who was accompanied by his brother Yazan at the time of the incident. According to the published statements, the victim Nours Nasser and the three injured individuals—Qais Akram Rashid, Hazem Osama Abu Saeed, and Yazan Khudair—were taken directly to the National Hospital in Suwayda to receive medical care.

In a related development, the leadership of the National Guard Forces issued a statement announcing the immediate dismissal of one of its members after it was proven that he was involved in the mentioned crime, due to his use of military weapons outside the framework of the law and for personal motives. The leadership indicated that the dismissed member was referred to the competent judicial authorities to continue the investigation and prosecute him in accordance with the applicable laws, affirming that the forces will provide no cover for any violator and that they are committed to enforcing the law and protecting civilians.

It is worth noting that the province witnessed in July 2025 a severe wave of violence that included murders, kidnappings, assaults, and violations of civilians’ rights, following an attack carried out by forces of the interim authorities affiliated with “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham”, which heightened residents’ fears, particularly among members of the Druze community in the area.
