On November 3, 2025, an incident of arrest and violence took place in the village of Qarfeis in the countryside of Latakia Province, when the General Security Service affiliated with the Interim Authority (Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham) raided the village.
During the raid, the security forces opened fire indiscriminately and assaulted local residents. The incident involved Brigadier General Adnan al-Yousef of the Syrian regime forces, who had arrived at his home in the village from Lebanon just half an hour before the raid.
Al-Yousef was severely beaten during his arrest by the General Security personnel, resulting in serious internal bleeding. He was transferred to the National Hospital in the city of Jableh and placed in intensive care. Brigadier General Adnan al-Yousef had previously served as the commander of the Special Forces Regiment in Latakia under the Syrian regime. Sources reported that al-Yousef had reached a reconciliation settlement after the Interim Authorities took control of Damascus.
