In early November 2025, the General Security Service affiliated with Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham — the de facto authority in the area — launched a new wave of arrests targeting civilians from the Alawite community in Homs province and its countryside. The campaign was carried out in the village of Akrad al-Dassiniya, where several residents were detained, including the owner of the village’s only bakery. His arrest left more than four thousand people deprived of access to bread.
