Palestinian Ihab Hariri Killed in Al-Raml Al-Janoubi Camp by Unknown Gunmen

The young man Ihab Hariri, a Palestinian resident of Al-Raml Al-Janoubi Camp in Latakia Governorate, western Syria, was killed after being shot directly in front of his home in the camp at around 1:00 a.m. on December 5, 2025.

According to information circulating within the camp, unknown assailants fired a bullet that struck Hariri in the head, causing his immediate death. Ambulance teams arrived at the scene along with members of the public security affiliated with the temporary authority, “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham,” who cordoned off the area and began preliminary investigations to determine the circumstances of the crime and the party responsible.

Ihab Hariri was married and the father of two children. He worked as an aluminum worker and owned a shop inside the camp. Accusations also surfaced claiming that he had “collaborated with the security apparatus of the former regime,” though there is no confirmed information linking this to the circumstances of his killing.

This incident comes amid a state of security tension in Latakia, where targeting incidents recur under the control of forces belonging to the temporary authority, “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham,” and in the absence of an effective protection system for civilian residents.
