A complaint submitted by a Syrian citizen has revealed an incident involving the seizure of agricultural lands in the village of Abu al-Qudour, which administratively belongs to the al-Hamra subdistrict in the eastern countryside of Hama. In the complaint, the citizen Hussein al-Zarqa accused Fadi Hussein al-Jassem, known as “Abu Malik,” the brother of Hussein al-Jassem, known as “Abu Amsha,” the commander of the 62nd Division of the Syrian Arab Army, of seizing agricultural lands that he has legally owned since 1974, allegedly using influence and military force, according to the statement he provided.
According to the statement of the citizen Hussein al-Zarqa, he owns approximately 500 dunams of agricultural land in the village of Abu al-Qudour, based on an official land title deed (tabu) and sharecropping contracts that establish his legal ownership of the land. He explained that Fadi Hussein al-Jassem, known as “Abu Malik,” seized a portion of these lands, in addition to 100 dunams belonging to one of his cousins and 50 dunams belonging to another cousin.
Activists circulated a short video clip containing the testimony of the complainant regarding the incident.
