This report documents a series of filmed scenes published by gunmen affiliated with the forces of the Interim Authority “the Syrian Arab Army / Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham,” which include violations affecting the dignity of civilians and prisoners, in the context of the ongoing military operations since mid-January 2026 in the Aleppo countryside and areas east of the Euphrates.
On 18 January 2026, footage published by gunmen from the Interim Authority forces showed them humiliating two Kurdish female fighter prisoners, as the person filming is heard directing insulting remarks, including the phrase: “Abu Mujahid, this is the nicest gift for you,” then asking the two prisoners to send greetings to a person named “Mujahid.”
In another scene, the video clips documented forcing an elderly Kurdish man to “bark” and to send greetings to an Arab tribe, in an act involving a direct humiliation of human dignity on an ethnic basis.
Additional scenes also included the detention of Alawite civilians in the city of Raqqa, where the beating of one of them appears after he was asked about his sect, indicating targeting on a religious basis.
The published clips reflect the continuation of violations against civilians and prisoners by the Interim Authority forces “the Syrian Arab Army / Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” in the context of the ongoing military operations, and highlight serious risks to human rights, particularly the right to human dignity and to freedom from cruel or degrading treatment.
