On November 3, 2025, an armed group affiliated with the Interim Authority launched a coordinated attack using motorcycles on the Al-Dimas residential area in the countryside of Damascus, specifically targeting the Alawite neighborhoods in the Fifth Island and the Fifth Informal Housing Area.
The attackers opened fire indiscriminately at homes and shops, causing damage to many of them and spreading fear among residents—men, women, and children alike. The gunmen also threw grenades and set fire to part of the shops.
This attack took place amid heightened security tensions in an area largely inhabited by members of the Alawite community. Meanwhile, official state media described the incident as a limited altercation that was quickly brought under control, claiming that security and stability were restored to the area.
