The body of Haidar Ghassan Issa found in Jableh in Latakia Governorate

The body of the young man Haidar Ghassan Issa (26 years old), who belongs to the Alawite sect, was found in the Barabshbu area under the Zoubar Bridge, locally known as “Al-Mafhama Bridge,” in Jableh in the countryside of Latakia, where the body was identified by his family on November 15, 2025. The young man had been kidnapped on June 9 from Al-Azhari Roundabout in the city of Latakia, where activists accused forces of the interim authority “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” of being behind the kidnapping. The body was found shackled with iron handcuffs and dumped near a room that had previously been occupied by members of the 400th Division affiliated with Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham. This incident comes within a broader context of escalating killings, sectarian violence, and kidnappings targeting minorities in Syria.
