Abduction of Citizen Ahmad Ali Hamdan from the Alawite Sect in Rural Hama

On August 9, 2025, 34-year-old Ahmad Ali Hamdan disappeared after leaving the Hama market. Contact with him was lost, and no information has been received regarding his fate or whereabouts since that date — a period now extending to three months.

The victim, a young man from the Alawite sect, hails from the village of Al-Ransiya in the rural area of Tartous Governorate. He worked as a driver transporting vegetables in his Kia vehicle. The identity of the party responsible for the abduction remains unknown. The incident occurred amid a broader context of instability and a rise in sectarian violence and kidnappings targeting minorities in Syria following Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham’s assumption of power.
