On the morning of Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the Athriya checkpoint in the Hama countryside, the Public Security forces affiliated with the Interim Authority “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” arrested the two young men Hussein Abdulghani Hammadeh and Ali Muhammad Hammadeh, without any legal justification or clear judicial procedure. The two young men, who belong to the Shiite community, are from the city of al-Zahraa in the countryside of Aleppo Governorate. This incident came within a broader context marked by escalating sectarian violence and kidnappings targeting minorities in Syria, giving their disappearance a significance related to prevailing security conditions and violations targeting civilians on the basis of their sectarian affiliation.
