Al-Saraya Square in the city of Suwayda in southern Syria witnessed today, Wednesday, December 10, 2025, a large demonstration in which members of the Druze community participated to demand the right to self-determination and to denounce the violations of the interim authorities, “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham.”
The city of Suwayda has been witnessing demonstrations and gatherings on an almost daily basis demanding the release of the abductees, the lifting of the siege on the province, and the fulfillment of the political demands of the residents.
In July 2025, Suwayda Governorate in southern Syria witnessed acts of violence that led to the occurrence of grave crimes (killing, kidnapping, rape, burning of property, insult to human dignity…) after an attack by forces of the interim authorities, “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham,” which increased the fears of the local population, especially members of the Druze community in the area.
