In a statement issued by Golden Line for Artistic Production, the company revealed that the filming location of the series Al-Nuwailati was subjected to an arson attack at midnight on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in what the company described as a “treacherous and vile” crime, carried out by “night dwellers who took the cover of darkness as wings for their despicable act.”
According to the statement, the crew left the site at twelve o’clock midnight, after which the perpetrators—less than half an hour later—set the place on fire, at a timing the company considered “carefully calculated, reflecting the baseness of the culprits.” The fire led to the complete destruction of the drama city, including the narrow alleys, heritage houses, buildings, and artistic and technical equipment, turning “every beautiful detail prepared for a creative work into rubble.”
The company confirmed that preliminary information clearly indicates that the fire was “intentional and deliberate,” and that the perpetrators left a “clear sign” confirming this. However, the company refrained from disclosing it “out of respect for the ongoing investigation” being conducted by the competent authorities, in whose ability to “identify the criminals who destroy the country’s resources and the livelihoods of its people, and who threaten the drama industry and filming operations, and tarnish the image of Syria,” the company expressed full confidence.
The company estimated its losses at more than one and a half million US dollars, affirming that although the extent of the destruction is significant, it “will not deter it from completing the work,” and that it will rebuild the site and continue producing the series “as originally planned, without any compromise on quality or artistic vision.”
The company urged anyone who possesses information that could help uncover the truth or identify the perpetrators to contact the competent authorities or the company’s management directly, “in the interest of justice and to prevent the recurrence of such condemnable acts.”
It also stressed that the safety of all workers is the top priority, and that “material damages—no matter how great—remain secondary to the value of human life.” The company expressed its gratitude to everyone who reached out and offered support during this “difficult” time.
