Maher Hammoud from the Alawite sect was killed on the morning of September 25 inside his home in the village of Ein al-Jaja in the Drikish area, in the countryside of Tartus, western Syria, following a raid carried out by a force from the General Security personnel of the interim authority (Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham).

According to activists, a convoy of about twenty vehicles entered the village at eleven in the morning, and its members opened fire randomly, resulting in the injury of a civilian who was riding a motorcycle.

According to the details, the target was to arrest the young man Bashar Hammoud, but the personnel went to his brother’s house and opened fire on Maher Hammoud, mistaking him for the wanted person, before arresting his nephew, Ahd Hammoud.

The sources added that the village remained besieged until the afternoon hours, as residents were prevented from leaving and school students were detained inside, while an additional number of men were arrested.
