This followed an incident where unidentified individuals threw four bombs on 26th Street in the neighborhood; one exploded, while the other three failed to detonate.
In another incident linked to the rise of sectarian violence, Ms. Um Rami Al-Zaroufi, a citizen hailing from the Alawite community, passed away on May 13, 2026, due to severe injuries sustained on May 4, 2026, during an armed attack that targeted her and members of her family inside a commercial shop in the Al-Sabil neighborhood of Homs.
These chronologically close events reflect a dangerous escalation in the frequency of violence and targeting of civilians based on religious or sectarian grounds, in light of the ongoing security vacuum and weak accountability measures. This necessitates urgent measures to ensure civilian protection and prevent the escalation of sectarian violence, in compliance with international human rights law obligations.

مقتل شابين وإصابة أربعة مدنيين في هجوم مسلح ذي طابع طائفي بريف حماة الغربي
قُتل شابان وأُصيب أربعة مدنيين آخرين، مساء الخميس 28 أيار/مايو 2026، إثر هجوم مسلح نفّذه شخصان يستقلان دراجة نارية استهدف مجموعة من المدنيين في قرية القاهرة ذات الغالبية المرشدية بمنطقة سهل الغاب في ريف حماة الغربي، في حادثة تثير مخاوف متزايدة من تصاعد أعمال العنف ذات الخلفيات الطائفية في سوريا.
وبحسب مصادر محلية وشهادات شهود عيان، أطلق مسلحان النار بشكل مباشر على عدد من المدنيين أثناء وجودهم أمام وداخل محل تجاري لبيع المواد الغذائية يعود لأحد الضحايا، ما أسفر عن مقتل كل من:

ووفقاً لإفادات شهود عيان، فإن المهاجمَيْن لم يكونا ملثمين، وكانا يستقلان دراجة نارية، حيث باشرا بإطلاق النار على المدنيين المتواجدين أمام وداخل محلّي “سومر وفجر الزامتلي للسمانة”، قبل أن يلوذا بالفرار باتجاه الطريق الرئيسي شرقي القرية.
وأشار الشهود إلى أن الهجوم وقع قرابة الساعة التاسعة مساءً، وسط حالة من الذعر بين سكان المنطقة، في ظل غياب معلومات رسمية حول هوية المنفذين أو الجهة المسؤولة عن الهجوم حتى لحظة إعداد هذا التقرير.
وتأتي هذه الحادثة في سياق تصاعد مقلق لأعمال العنف والانتهاكات ذات الطابع الطائفي في عدد من المناطق السورية خلال الأشهر الأخيرة، لا سيما في محافظتي حمص وحماة.
ففي مساء الثلاثاء 19 أيار/مايو 2026، أُصيبت امرأة خمسينية من الطائفة المرشدية بجروح إثر انفجار قنبلة أُلقيت وسط المدنيين في حي كرم الزيتون بمدينة حمص، بعد قيام مجهولين بإلقاء أربع قنابل في الشارع 26 بالحي، انفجرت إحداها بينما لم تنفجر القنابل الثلاث الأخرى.
وفي حادثة أخرى مرتبطة بتصاعد العنف الطائفي، توفيت المواطنة أم رامي الزروفي، المنحدرة من الطائفة العلوية، بتاريخ 13 أيار/مايو 2026، متأثرة بجروح خطيرة كانت قد أُصيبت بها في 4 أيار/مايو 2026، إثر هجوم مسلح استهدفها مع أفراد من عائلتها داخل محل تجاري في حي السبيل بمدينة حمص.
وتعكس هذه الوقائع المتقاربة زمنياً تصاعداً خطيراً في وتيرة أعمال العنف والاستهداف التي تطال مدنيين على خلفيات دينية أو مذهبية، في ظل استمرار حالة الانفلات الأمني وضعف إجراءات المساءلة، الأمر الذي يهدد السلم الأهلي ويزيد من مخاطر وقوع أعمال عنف انتقامية.
كما يسهم تصاعد خطاب الكراهية والتحريض عبر المنصات الرقمية في تأجيج التوترات المجتمعية، وسط غياب إجراءات فعالة للحد من هذا الخطاب أو محاسبة المسؤولين عنه.
