Two members of the forces of the Interim Authority sing and boast about throwing a Kurdish female fighter from the top of a building in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood

A widely circulated video dated 15 January 2026 documented the appearance of two members of forces affiliated with the Interim Authority, singing and boasting about throwing a Kurdish female fighter from the top of a residential building in the predominantly Kurdish Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in the city of Aleppo, in an incident that demonstrates a violation of human dignity and the growing extremism within the “Syrian Arab Army.”

On 10 January 2026, a video clip was published by the same members affiliated with the Interim Authority. In the recording, the voice of the person who documented the incident can be heard making degrading remarks after throwing the Kurdish female fighter, saying: “A pig, damn her honor,” in a scene reflecting a dangerous level of violence and incitement, while it was not known whether the fighter was injured or dead at the time she was thrown from the building.

Another widely circulated clip published on 15 January 2026 also documented the appearance of a member of the forces of the Interim Authority in a video recording containing direct threats against the east of the Euphrates (northeast Syria), including threats to commit large-scale acts of violence.

The member says: “We will sever your limbs and smash your bones, and we will cleanse our land of the filth of you with swords that know no mercy… You will have no shelter or refuge left, and the fire we have ignited will not be extinguished except by your complete annihilation or your surrender.”

In another circulated recording, a member of the forces of the Interim Authority, known as the “Syrian Arab Army,” appeared threatening the residents of the predominantly Kurdish city of Kobani/Ayn al-Arab. The member appeared in the video carrying the ISIS flag on his chest and brandishing a knife, issuing direct threats to target the population, including Kurdish female fighters, using inciting, hate-based rhetoric.

The circulation of these clips coincided with the events witnessed in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, both predominantly Kurdish areas in the city of Aleppo, during the period extending from Tuesday, 6 January 2026, until the evening of Saturday, 10 January 2026. This came after the Interim Authority took full control of the area following clashes with local Kurdish forces. During this period, the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood was subjected to intense and repeated shelling, accompanied by widespread violations including field killings and arrests affecting hundreds of Kurdish civilians, particularly men, in a context marked by escalating violence and systematic abuses.
