The body of civilian Samih Saif Al-Din Khallouf was found on the morning of July 19, 2026, between the villages of Maryamin and Al-Shinniyah in western rural Homs, two days after he was abducted in the Houla region, according to documentation by “Rights Monitor Syria.”
According to available information, Samih Saif Al-Din Khallouf was abducted from inside a poultry farm he owned in the village of Al-Shinniyah on July 17, 2026, before his body was subsequently discovered in the area located between the villages of Maryamin and Al-Shinniyah. The victim hailed from the village of Al-Shinniyah and belonged to the Alawite community.
This incident highlights the continuation of killing incidents targeting civilians across several Syrian regions, including individuals belonging to religious and sectarian minorities, amid the ongoing absence of effective accountability for these violations.
“Rights Monitor Syria” calls for an independent and impartial investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the abduction and killing of Samih Saif Al-Din Khallouf, identify those responsible for the crime, and hold them accountable in accordance with international standards. It further stresses the necessity of taking urgent and effective measures to ensure the protection of civilians and prevent the recurrence of violations, regardless of their religious, sectarian, or ethnic affiliations.
