On November 15, 2025, in the village of Maghar al-Mir, located on the slopes of Mount Hermon in the Damascus countryside, Mr. Akram Qarqamaz (Abu Nabil) — from the Druze community — was killed while working on his agricultural land. The incident occurred when armed men riding a motorcycle targeted him with direct gunfire, leading to his death. This incident comes in the context of the continued targeting of civilians in the rural areas surrounding the capital, Damascus, and within a broader context in which killings, sectarian violence, and kidnappings targeting minorities in Syria have been on the rise.
