At dawn on Sunday, November 16, on the Midanki road in Sharran subdistrict in the Afrin countryside, the citizen Mahmoud Shukri Muhammad, from the village of Dumilya affiliated with Maabatli subdistrict in the Afrin countryside in northern Syria, was injured by bullets fired by unknown gunmen.
The incident occurred while the victim was with his son inside their car-repair shop, where the gunmen attempted to open the shop door. When they were discovered, they opened fire, which led to injuring Mahmoud Shukri Muhammad, who was then taken to the Syrian Specialized Hospital in Afrin city center to receive treatment.
This incident comes in the context of the ongoing cycle of violence in the Afrin area, which includes killing, kidnapping, torture, and the imposition of levies on civilians, amid the absence of justice and accountability and the spread of security chaos since Turkey’s occupation of the Afrin region, which has a Kurdish majority, on March 18, 2018, and the displacement of more than 400,000 of its original Kurdish inhabitants.
